Jackie and Marlon rejected the notion that their father forced them into show business, saying they wanted to perform and rehearsed daily in a small Gary, Indiana home while still playing sports. They credited Joe Jackson with spotting talent and supplying instruments. Joe Jackson died in 2018 of pancreatic cancer at 89.

The Biopic Details

The Antoine Fuqua-directed, John Logan-written movie stars Jaafar and Juliano Krue Valdi as Michael, with Colman Domingo as Joe, Nia Long as Katherine and Miles Teller as lawyer John Branca. Michael opens in theaters April 24.
